The title says it all. After all the worries, I'm finally at the stage of almost moving in. I'm really grateful that I have my mom & dad & cousin brother to coordinate all the efforts for me. Cous Bro got the painter, floor-guy and plumber in. Dad supervised the daily work by the guys. Mom made sure the cabinets/wardrobes are cleaned properly and the curtain is done correctly and various other stuff. Still some to worry, but the place is habitable...
My almost-moving in checklist:
1. Curtains for living room done. Mom showed me her work yesterday and it was pretty good.
2. Gas installed and the kitchen sink tap and outside water filter changed. Still need to test the gas tubing for leakage - paranoid me.
3. Painting work done. I went with Rose Petal from Pentalite Easy Clean for the living room and all other places. and Orange Creme also from Pentalite Easy Clean for my room. The painter uncle advised against going for my initial thoughts of Pearl Glo for reasons that the glow will go off after a while. Anyway, the walls, ceilings, door frames and balcony grills are all painted. Still need to air the place and get rid of the smell.
4. Floor polished. I'm glad this works. The floor is just so lively and pleasant after the w0rks. After all the work, need more cleaning.
5. Mattresses bought - pending delivery. Finally decided on DreamLand Posture Guard Mattress which cost RM599.
6. Sofa bought - pending delivery. I'm getting my leather L-shaped sofa! Yay!
7. TV table bought - pending delivery. Something simple but fits into the allocated area.
8. TVs - transfer from parents' & bro's houses. Cost saving.

A place to call my own
The phrase sounds so, so good. But the work that's required to prepare that place is really trying and stressful, at times.
Still, this is a recommended endeavour.
In the mean time, I worry. I just finished worrying about colour schemes, but now that the painting is ongoing, more worries cropped up. I worry that I won't get the right fridge. The right TV. a TV table that works and matches with everything else. A sofa that is just right and comfortable and a good buy. Mattresses that are good yet reasonably priced. Which washing machine to get? Should I get the dryer fixed? Do I want a top-load or a side-load washing machine.
Sigh!

Live Any Way

Fallen leaves at Yosemite taken during Winter, beginning of this year.
This reminded me of the good times had during that time. and the good friends whom I met and got to know.
At one time, I thought I have lost the skill of making new friends. I was quite anxious of being in a totally strange place, not knowing anybody. But I went off anyway. Now, I'm glad, so glad that I had that whole experience.
I came across this phrases while reading a book of fiction which at this moment, I can't recall the title, but thanks to google I found the many versions and all equally meaningful to me. Here they are...
As a song by Martina McBride:
Title: Martina McBride - Do It Anyway lyrics
You can spend your whole life buildin'
Something from nothin
One storm could come and blow it all away
Build it anyway
You could chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway
God is great but sometimes life aint good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway
This worlds gone crazy
And it's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all you heart
For all the right reasons
And in a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway
God is great but sometimes life aint good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway
Yeah I do it anyway
You can pour your soul out singin'
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yeah sing it anyway
I sing
I dream
I love anyway
The version found written on the wall in Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta:
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.

Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.

Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.

Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
